Crossed under the Thames using Brunel’s tunnel,
Extended to Shoreditch in 1876, the Surrey Quays
also in 1876. NEW CROSS STATION opened 1880.
The link to the Metropolitan Railway opened south of Whitechapel in 1884.
Also stations at Shadwell, Wapping, Rotherhithe,
Deptford Road, New Cross Gate, and New Cross in 1884.
